After years of lockdowns we’re getting ready for the most awesome plant market there is in The Netherlands! 🥳 On Saturday 7th of May we are attending the plant market at the Botanical Gardens in Leiden. It’s the perfect opportunity to visit the beautiful gardens and greenhouse ánd shop some cool plants. We’ll be there with some great plants with special prices! Get ticketsMeat eaters, hostas, flower bulbs, bee plants, seeds, houseplants.. Also this year various (known and new) growers and enthusiasts welcome you with their own range at the annual plant market. You can download a list of exhibitors present at the bottom of this page.
But anyone who thinks that you can go to the plant market for only plants is wrong. The Plantenmarkt is also the right place for plant-related matters such as personal garden advice, green and sustainable gifts, herbs and botanical artists.

Guided tour of the Dutch Fern Association

An insight into the beekeeping of the Hortus botanicus Leiden

Demonstration by Nursery Jaap Duijs
Mr. Duijs will tell you how he has succeeded for 25 years in crossing the different types of Hypoxidaceae (African Yellow Stars and Red Stars) in a natural way.
Everyone can learn from this and also try it at home to collect seeds from different plants and see what plants grow after sowing.

14:00-14:30 Lecture on aquatic plants and their ecological role – given by Michiel Verhofstad, project and team leader at FLORON. ‘How does our surface water actually work? How does it function and what is the role of aquatic plants in this? And how can you apply this knowledge to your own pond?’ Interested? Come and attend the lecture in the Oranjerie.
