How to care for your Alocasia Silver Nebula?
Light
The Alocasia species can best be placed in a spot with some indirect sunlight. Make sure no bright direct sunlight will hit the leaves, it could cause burn marks on those gorgeous leaves. Alocasia can handle a bit of shade throughout the day.
Water
Depending on your climate, Alocasia might be a bit needy when it comes to watering. Alocasia Silver Nebula is most happy with a bit of a moist soil. Always be careful not to drown the plant in too much water.
Soil
The Alocasia Silver Nebula likes a well draining potting soil. Drainage is key with most Alocasia. Use a light potting mixture, combining your regular soil with some perlite and pine bark. If you don’t like the hassle of making your own soil you can try using our pre-made soil mixtures, which are great for all aroids.
Humidity
Like most aroids the Alocasia likes a humid environment. The humidity should be at least 65%. The Alocasia Silver Nebula will thrive in a higher humidity. It can be a bit of a drama queen, if your humidity drops below 50% it may give you crispy leaves.
Fertilisation
In the summer months you can fertilise the plant once every other week. In the colder and winter months no fertiliser is needed. Please always check the instructions on your own fertiliser if it has other care instructions.
Repotting
The best time to repot is during the beginning of the growing season. Check if your plant is root bound in it’s nursery pot. Then it’s time to move it to a bigger size pot of around 2 cm extra.
Toxicity
The Alocasia is toxic for humans and animals if ingested.
