How to care for your Murdannia Loriformus ‘Bright Star’?
Light
Murdannia Loriformus ‘Bright Star’ like a good amount of indirect light each day. Avoid too much sun and too much shade. With too much sun the leaves can burn. Give the plant too much shade, growth might decrease.
Water
Murdannia like a good bit of water regularly. In the growth season watering once a week should be fine. It’s recommended to keep to soil a little moist in between. If you let the top of the soil dry out it’s not such a big problem, just make sure you don’t let this happen too often. In winter time the plant may need a little less water.
Soil
Provide your plant with a well draining soil mixture for proper drainage. You can achieve this by mixing some potting soil with perlite and pine bark. Alternatively get yourself some of our pre-made aroid soil mixtures.
Humidity
With this tropical house plant it is recommended to keep the humidity high for it to thrive. Try to get the humidity up at around 60% – 80%. Avoid placing the plant close to heath sources and/or cold draughts.
Fertilisation
In the growing season you can fertilize your Murdannia without a problem. The rest of the year it’s not needed to fertilize your plant. Always check the care instructions before using the product.
Repotting
The best time to repot is during the beginning of the growing season. When you repot your plant it’s best to use a new pot which is 20% bigger. This will give the roots some space to continue to grow. Repotting can be done once a year.
Toxicity
Murdannia are non-toxic to both human and animals.
