How to care for your Philodendron Hastatum ‘Silver Sword’?
Light
The Philodendron Hastatum ‘Silver Sword’ will love a spot in bright but indirect sunlight. It will tolerate darker spots but the leaves probably will not grow bigger and the plant might not grow so fast in general.
Water
Watering your plant once a week should be fine. Of course this will depend on your local climate and time of the year. It is recommended to keep the soil a little moist in between waterings.
Soil
The Philodendron Hastatum ‘Silver Sword’ isn’t a very needy plant. Make sure the soil stays a little damp at all time. A good drainage can be achieved by using perlite or pot the plant in a hydroponic solution.
Humidity
This Philodendron Hastatum ‘Silver Sword’ is an easy one and can survive in any home. A humidity between 50% and 70% would be fine for your plant.
Fertilisation
In the summer months you can fertilize the plant once every week. In the colder and winter months no fertilizer is needed. Please always check the instructions on your own fertilizer if it has other care instructions.
Repotting
The best time to repot is during the beginning of the growing season. Check if your plant is root bound in it’s nursery pot. Then it’s time to move it to a bigger size pot of around 2 cm extra. Or just give you plant a bit of new fresh soil.
Toxicity
The Philodendron is toxic for humans and animals if ingested.
