How to care for your Philodendron Narrow Escape?
Light
The Philodendron species thrive in a bright but indirect sunlight. It will tolerate darker spots but the leaves probably will not grow bigger and growth may be stunned. A spot near your south west facing window might be a good idea.
Water
It doesn’t use too much water depending on your own climate. The plant likes it when the soil is a little moist. Make sure the soil doesn’t dry out completely.
Soil
The Philodendron Narrow Escape likes an airy soil mix which is well draining. Try using perlite and pine bark with coco coir to keep light. If you don’t like the hassle of making your own soil you can try using one of our pre-made aroid mixtures which you can find in the shop.
Humidity
Like most aroids the Philodendron likes a humid environment. The humidity should be at least 50%. To let your Philodendron Narrow Escape thrive however it is best to keep the humidity up just a bit higher, around 65%.
Fertilisation
In the summer months you can fertilise the plant once every other week. In the colder and winter months no fertiliser is needed. Please always check the instructions on your own fertiliser if it has other care instructions.
Repotting
The best time to repot is during the beginning of the growing season. Check if your plant is root bound in it’s nursery pot. Then it’s time to move it to a bigger size pot of around 2 cm extra.
Toxicity
The Philodendron is toxic for humans and animals if ingested.
