How to care for your Philodendron White Princess?
Light
The Philodendron species thrive in a bright but indirect sunlight. It will tolerate darker spots but the leaves probably will not grow bigger. As for the Philodendron White Princess a darker spot is not really recommended. The variegation can fade with too much shade.
Water
It doesn’t use too much water depending on your own climate. The plant likes it when the soil is a little moist. Make sure the soil doesn’t dry out.
Soil
The Philodendron White Princess likes an airy soil mix which is well draining. Try using perlite and pine bark with coco coir to keep light. If you don’t like the hassle of making your own soil you can try using our Deluxe aroid mix. Alternately you can go for a hydroponic mix like Pon or Grit.
Humidity
Like most aroids the Philodendron likes a humid environment. The humidity should be at least 50%. To avoid brown patches on the beautiful variegated leaves it is though recommended to keep the humidity slightly higher, between 60% and 70%.
Fertilisation
In the summer months you can fertilise the plant once every other week. In the colder and winter months no fertilizer is needed. Please always check the instructions on your own fertilizer for the exact amounts and frequency.
Repotting
The best time to repot is during the beginning of the growing season. Check if your plant is root bound in it’s nursery pot. Then it’s time to move it to a bigger size pot of around 2 cm extra.
Toxicity
The Philodendron is toxic for humans and animals if ingested.
