Selenicereus Wercklei is a unique and super easy jungle cactus. It’s closely related to Rhipsalis and just as easy to care for. Selenicereus Wercklei is a fast grower making it a very rewarding plant to add to your collection. With its beautiful slender and ribbed branches it’ll give you some good jungle vibes.
It’s advisable to keep your Selenicereus Wercklei in a sunny spot with enough light. Do be careful of too much direct sunlight. This might give the plant some sun stress and make the branches turn pinkish-red. As Selenicereus Wercklei is an epiphyte jungle cactus it might a bit more water than you’re used to with cacti or succulents. In the summer months you best water it once ever other week (or if you live in a place with very tropical temperatures perhaps even water the plant once a week). In the colder months you can water the plant a little less. Most importantly, let the soil dry our quite a bit before watering, to avoid overwatering your beautiful Selenicereus Wercklei. Thereby also make sure your plant is potted in a well draining soil mixture.
Selenicereus Wercklei can stay alive in many different circumstances. The plant can handle a bit of cold and some warm weather. Preferable you don’t want to expose the plant for too long in colder temperatures though. Regarding its humidity it’ll be ok in most house holds, but as it is a jungle cactus the plant will benefit from a slightly higher humidity level.
With the right care your Selenicereus Wercklei will give you years of plant pleasure. The bigger they get, the more chances to get some flowers in your plant. They’re mostly night bloomers, so if your Selenicereus Wercklei is in bloom stay up late to watch this spectacle!
