How to care for your Spathiphyllum Diamond?
Light
Spathiphyllum are tropical plants. Therefor its best to keep the plant in a warm spot. The Spathiphyllum Diamond will do best in a spot with indirect sunlight throughout the day. When the plant receives sufficient light throughout the day there’s a big chance for the plant to flower.
Water
Depending on your climate, Spathiphyllum might be a bit needy when it comes to watering. As soon as the leaves start to droop it’s your sign to water the plant again. Spathiphyllum Diamond is most happy with a bit of a moist soil. Always be careful not to drown the plant in too much water.
Soil
The Spathiphyllum Diamond likes a well draining potting soil. Use a light potting mixture, combining your regular soil with some perlite and pine bark. If you don’t like the mess of making your own soil you can try using our pre-made soil mixtures, which are great for all aroids.
Humidity
When it comes to humidity Spathiphyllum Diamond shouldn’t be very needy. With an average house hold humidity of about 50% – 60% the plant should be ok.
Fertilisation
In the summer months it is advisable to use some fertilizer while watering. This will give your plant an extra kick to grow and some much needed nutrients. Please always check the instructions on your own fertilizer if it has other care instructions.
Repotting
Repotting your Spathiphyllum can be done best at the beginning of the growing season. Depending on how root bound your plant is, it’s wise to repot your plant every year or every other year. If the plant is root bound give it a slightly bigger pot. If not, just give your Alocasia some fresh soil.
Toxicity
The Spathiphyllum is toxic for humans and animals if ingested.
