How to care for your Yucca Elephantipes?
Light
The Yucca prefers to be placed in a spot with bright, indirect sunlight. From time to time it can handle some direct sunlight. Preferable in the early morning or late afternoon.
Water
Yucca Elephantipes can be sensitive to overwatering. It is therefor recommended to let the soil dry out before watering again. In the growing season, and especially in summer the plant prefers water once a week. Throughout the rest of the year reduce watering.
Soil
Yucca loves a good draining soil mixture that doesn’t stay too soggy. Use some quality potting soil, mixing it up with some perlite or even a bit of sand.
Humidity
Humidity isn’t such an important factor when caring for your Yucca Elephantipes. Just make sure it’s out of draughts and away from the heather in the winter. When the humidity is too low the top ends of the leaves will turn brown.
Fertilisation
In the summer months you can fertilize your plant. In the colder and winter months no fertiliser is needed. Please always check the instructions on your own fertiliser if it has other care instructions.
Repotting
Yucca are not very fast growing plants. Therefore repotting regularly is not necessary. A repot once every two years should be the minimum.
Toxicity
The Yucca Elephantipes is considered not toxic to animals or humans.
