How to care for your Zingiber Malaysianum Chocolate?
Light
Zingiber Malaysianum Chocolate will be perfectly fine in a spot with semi shade or filtered indirect sunlight. Try to avoid direct and harsh sunlight at all times.
Water
Zingiber species like to keep it moist. Therefore watering your plant regularly is recommended. Make sure the soil doesn’t dry out in between waterings.
Soil
Zingiber Malaysianum Chocolate prefers a soil mixture which can retain water properly without staying soggy. Try mixing potting soil with some perlite and even some pine bark. Or try out our Basic Aroid Mixture for your plant.
Humidity
Zingiber are not too picky plants. In an average house hold they’ll be fine and can continue to grow. Generally a humidity of at least 50% is recommended.
Fertilisation
In the summer months you can fertilise the plant once every other week. In the colder and winter months no fertiliser is needed. Please always check the instructions on your own fertiliser if it has other care instructions.
Repotting
The best time to repot is during the beginning of the growing season. Check if your plant is root bound in it’s nursery pot. Then it’s time to move it to a bigger size pot of around 2 cm extra.
Toxicity
The Zingiber is considered non-toxic for humans and animals.
